I agreed with her -- traditionally, wedding receptions do not have a maid of honor speech. However that is just traditionally -- and "traditionally" does not mean that the practice is set in stone. In fact it is becoming more and more common to see speeches at wedding receptions that are more than just the traditional trio of Father of the Bride, Groom, and Best Man.
